Directors for the 2013-2015 term
Greg Gibbons is a two time Mercedes Benz owner who enjoys spending time with fellow MBCA members at a variety of events.
He shares enthusiasm for the brand and likes to learn about the great variety of vehicles and experiences our group has to share.
It has been rewarding to contribute towards sustaining and growing our membership in the Hawaii Section for the past three years.
Working with a devoted group of officers and directors has been integral to expanding the events and opportunities for our members.
Continuing to serve our section in any capacity needed would be an honor and will help to ensure continued growth and activities that are consistent with the Mercedes-Benz slogan: “The Best or Nothing” !
Greg has been a critical care nurse in Hawaii for 27 years specializing in intensive care, interventional radiology, perianesthesia and pain management. In addition to long drives with the top down he also enjoys travel, photography, building homes with Habitiat for Humanity and participating in local dog shows with his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel “London”.
Russell Kulinski is a retired commander of 27 years with a Police Department in Michigan with the last seven years in administrative commands overseeing over 40 officers and staff. While in Michigan Russell also owned a successful plumbing and maintenance business which he sold in 1992 after 15 years of business.
He and his wife, Deenie, came to Hawaii in 1992 and was hired as the resident manager of Bluestone, a town house community in Lanikai. When he and his wife became owners of a unit in 1997 he could no longer be a resident manager there and left to become the resident manager of the Admiral Thomas condominium, a position he holds today.
Under his leadership Russell has been recognized for a number of achievements. Among them: Outstanding implementation of an energy efficient, high-performance design of the Outdoor Landscape Lighting Retrofit Project from the Illuminating Engineering Society, Hawaii Section in 2005 and facilitating the installation of a Turbo Chore chiller, a first for a condo in Hawaii, resulting in a large saving of electric consumption for the home owners association.
Russell is currently treasurer of MRMA (Moiliili Resident Manager’s Association); a member of the Facilities Committee at The Pacific Club; treasurer of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, Hawaii Section; a director of the Board of Directors of the home owners association of the Bluestone; a member of the Elks Club, and a volunteer at Diamond Head Theatre productions, ushering at opening night events for 18 years.
Dawn made her home in the islands 34 years ago from the Northeast, via East Seattle. Her first career in the spa industry afforded her rich opportunities to train with the finest educators in wellness principles in the U.S. and abroad. It also rewarded her with 25 years of empowering clients and employees to look good, feel great, to be and achieve more.
She now integrates that nurturing spirit in real estate sales as a Broker/Owner of Kahala Associates, to guide clients toward financial freedom via home ownership and investment.
She supports children and the arts through commitments to YO! House serving homeless and at-risk youth, the Honolulu Museum of Art, IONA Dance Company,
Hawaii Theatre Centre and others. Passionate about art and antiques, Dawn enjoys auctions, garage and estate sales, and transforms small furniture into unique art pieces. A good novel and traveling round out her joyful life!

I have been a member of this club for the past three years and have served as Membership Chairman for a more than two years.
Presently I own two Mercedes; a 1996 C36 AMG (1 of 296) and a 1973 280 sedan (1 of millions). I enjoy them both – especially because of their extreme differences, yet similarities in high quality and reliability. (Plus they are a joy to work on and drive!)
Professionally, I am a Creative Director for a National Direct Marketing Company called “First Name Basis, LLC”. My skills are in the areas of Advertising Design, Marketing and Branding, which is why being the Membership Chair is a perfect fit for me.
Although we continue to suffer weak member participation, our membership count is strong and continues to grow! Presently we have 74 members, including the beginnings of sub-sections on Maui, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii.
My passion for cars – especially Mercedes-Benz – will continue to fuel my enthusiasm for continuing to grow and solidify this Section.
I’ve had the honor to serve as a director of the Hawaii Section since it was reorganized in August 2010. Serving as the secretary and having participated in a number of projects over this time has given me a deep appreciation for my fellow motoring enthusiasts. We all come from varied personal and professional backgrounds but our common interest in the Mercedes-Benz brand give strong testament to the spirit voiced by Gottlieb Daimler who spoke of “Das Beste oder nichts.” (The best or nothing at all.)
My world includes Melanie (my better half), Cupie (the dog), family and the many friends we’ve found over the years. I’ve been a licensed insurance agent since 1976, focusing on family and business protection. In 1997 I started TAPA Communications, a web hosting and Internet services development company. In 2005 I’ve added professional photography to my life’s work. Being self-employed has allowed me to continue working in all three areas.
I am a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Since 2003 I’ve been a mediator for the Mediation Center of the Pacific where I usually take on two to three cases monthly and help with training new mediators. Since 1985 I’ve been a member of the Hawaii Macintosh & Apple Users’ Society and am presently a director and membership chairman.
My present autos include a 1988 560SL and a 1979 Triumph Spitfire. My interest in Mercedes-Benz started back in 1985 with a 380SL.
As we say in Hawaii, kūlia i ka nu’u. Let’s do our best to make tomorrow a better place for all of us!
