Story by Foster Folger
On 11 October the AMG HUI conducted its first ever drive event. Participants included Michael (C36), James (CLK55), Wes (E63), Foster (C63), another Mike (C63), and another James (C63). It was a great day for driving!
The group started out from the Pali Golf Course. From there the crew got onto the H3 Freeway and took a spirited drive down to H1. Once on the H1 Freeway, the guys cruised west to the H2 exit where the fun would begin. When all the guys were “nose-to-tail” on H2, Foster decided to open up the throttle and let EVERYONE hear the sound blasting through his tailpipes courtesy of his new MBH Motorsport headers.
Each AMG took a turn at doing some great pulls while screaming up H2. We even had a little Chevy S-10 pickup try to keep up with us for a little while until he finally realized that it would be a futile effort. Eventually the team ran out of highway to churn up and had to resume a more leisurely speed while heading out toward the north shore. The AMG HUI decided to conclude the days ride at the marina parking lot near Haleiwa Joe’s Restaurant and reminisce on the day’s drive.
Some of the die-hards decided to head east on the scenic winding road of Kamehameha Highway and stopped off at Kauhuku Superette for much needed hydration and poke bowls. All in all it was a great first outing and we will surely conduct another one in the near future.
