After months of searching and receiving many “no’s” we’re happy to report that we’ve found a suitable location for the next Okakopa Hoolaulea (Oktoberfest).
It has a large, flat, grassy field.
“Where might that be?” you may wonder. The clue is the photo below.
We’re nearly ready to set the date; Sunday or Saturday? We’ll pick in a few days.
For a project of this size there’s lots to do and your help would be appreciated. Here is a partial list of several areas needing help.
- Information and Registration
- Traffic and Safety
- Judging and Awards
- Makana Program
Let me know if you will be able to help with any part of the project.
Sunday Brunch and Island Cruise
Continuing our quest for the best roads and the finest dining experiences we’re doing Sunday Brunch and Island Cruise this Sunday, 9:00 a.m. at the Haiku Gardens.
It’s been nearly five years since our last visit to this beautiful island favorite destination. Here is a photo of the garden view from that day.
If you’d like to join us please let us know by tomorrow that you’ll be coming. Here is the link:
We’re holding elections for director seats at the brunch meeting this Sunday. Here’s your opportunity to step up to help with club activities. If you’d like to nominate someone (or yourself) let Treasurer, Greg Gibbons (http://www.mbca-hawaii.org/contact/) know.
Shawn Merrill will be on the ballot as director for the Island of Hawaii. She and her husband Robert moved to Keaau last year from the Bay Area. Some of you may have already met Shawn and Bob—they’ve participated in our Cars and Coffee event at the Valley of the Temples and the Kamehameha Day Parade. She and Bob also hosted our Mauna Kea Cruise and Siete De Mayo luncheon.
Collector Car Alert
I recently received a call from the Hawaii office of a large national non-profit organization seeking help with a modern classic Mercedes-Benz that has some Hollywood provenance. They are seeking assistance in valuation and advice for offering it for sale at a future fundraising campaign.
I’ve already seen the vehicle and have a few alternatives in mind that may be appropriate for them. Would anyone be interested in helping with this project?
One of the choices could include someone willing to purchase the vehicle, bringing it to an excellent “preservation class” specification to add to their collection or to offer it for later resale.
Interested? Ask me about this opportunity at the brunch this Sunday.
